1000 bulls set for Stirling Bull Sales

With a total of 1169 pedigree bulls and females on the road to Stirling for the Spring Bull Sales next week, the event welcomes some bumper breed entries and the first-time auction of Japanese Wagyu embryos.

The action takes place at United Auctions’ (UA’s) Stirling Agricultural Centre across two weeks from Monday 4th to Wednesday 6th February and from Monday 18th to Tuesday 19th February 2013.

The Stirling Bull Sales, held under the auspices of the national breed societies and supported by the Bank of Scotland, has a new format. The native breeds plus Limousins will be exhibited in week one with the rest of the continental breeds featuring in week two.

David Leggat, Executive Chairman of UA, said: “The sale promises a fantastic show for quality with bulls to suit to every pocket. Virtually all the bulls have both EBV information and herd health status in the catalogues to help buyers with their choice.”

Included in the event are 180 Limousin bulls, making it the biggest entry of the breed in the history of the Sales.

At 93 entries, the Shorthorn bulls are at their largest numbers since the 1960s.

And after two decades, the Bull Sales will also see enough Herefords to enable show classes.

In a first of its kind for the event, a customer is offering for sale 18 pure Wagyu embryos from a local, recently established herd.

Husband and wife team Mohsin and Martine Al-Tajir run the Japanese breed, which produces the most expensive beef in the world, under their company Highland Wagyu based at Blackford Farms in Dunblane.

Mr Leggat continued: “We believe the sale of these Wagyu embryos is the first time that such genetic material will be offered in Scotland via auction and we’re pleased to support Highland Wagyu in this way.”

Full catalogue details for the Sales are available on the pedigree page of UA’s website along with access to the sale ring’s live webcam.

Largest Line-Up Yet for UA’s May Multi-Breed Event

Next week’s May Multi-Breed Show and Sale will be the largest and most comprehensive selection yet at United Auctions’ (UA’s) Stirling Agricultural Centre.

253 pedigree bulls and females will be going under the hammer on Monday 7 May 2012 at the annual one-day event, which has been going from strength to strength over the past five years.

The May Multi-Breed Sale continues to be supported by Towergate Insurance.

It is run in conjunction with a special May show and of sale of commercial beef breeding cattle, which is sponsored by Carrs Billington who opened a new country store at the Stirling Agricultural Centre in March last year.

Full catalogue details can be downloaded from UA’s homepage www.uagroup.co.uk. The Multi-Breed Sale will be broadcast live on the webcam via UA’s website and as-it-happens news will be posted on the company’s Facebook page.

The Charolais, Simmental, Limousin, Aberdeen Angus, Beef Shorthorn and Longhorn breeds are all sold under the auspices of their respective breed societies.

Bumper entry at Autumn Bull Sales

One year after the move to Stirling, United Auctions’ (UA’s) world-famous Perth Bull Sales® attract a ten per cent boost in entries on last year.

The leading livestock auctioneers will also see the largest consignment of bulls and females from Northern Ireland in a decade.

The Autumn Bull Sales start next week, from Monday 18th October to Wednesday 20th October 2010, at Stirling Agricultural Centre.

880 pedigree cattle from Scotland, England and Wales – including 80 bulls and females from Northern Ireland – are coming to UA’s Stirling-based headquarters for the October Sales.

The Autumn Bull Sales are held under the auspices of the national breed societies and are sponsored by CKD Galbraith.

For the second year, the Sales will be broadcast live over the Internet via audio webcam for those who can’t make the event in person. The webcast displays all the animal’s information on screen and can be accessed via a link on the home page of the website www.uagroup.co.uk

David Leggat, Executive Chairman of UA, said: “It’s exciting to see the significant increase in numbers and the quality of bull and female entries forward this year.

“For the past 15 years we’ve been encouraging vendors to demonstrate the health status of their herds so we’re pleased that this year we have the highest ever percentage of cattle health declarations.

“Buyers need only look at the number of impressive EBVs (Estimated Breeding Values) supplied in the catalogues to be confident of a first-class selection at this year’s Sales.

“We’re delighted that CKD Galbraith return as our main sponsor for the Autumn Bull Sales and are grateful for their support.”

Full catalogue details for the Sales are available on the pedigree page of UA’s website.

Opportunities for photographs will be available from Sunday 17th October onwards.
