United Auctions

United Auctions (UA) are Scotland’s leading livestock auctioneers and procurement specialists and operate a network of different auction markets across Scotland, including Stirling, Huntly, Lairg, Dalmally, Tiree, Islay, South Uist and an area office and lairage facility at Oban. The company conducts auctions of both commercial and pedigree livestock, including the world-famous Stirling Bull Sales, and provides farm-to-farm and farm-to-abattoir procurement services. In 2013, UA was named in the London Stock Exchange’s ‘1000 Companies to Inspire Britain’.

  • UA’s MD Neil McLean asked me to continue looking after their external and internal communications after I launched my business in 2007 so they’ve been with me from the very beginning. I work closely alongside the company’s executive team, advising on, supporting and implementing their communication needs.

    Over the years, I’ve worked on major cultural changes with the business, including the amalgamation of the Stirling and Perth markets into the purpose-built Stirling Agricultural Centre while retaining more than 90% of customers through an open and proactive communications programme.

  • I project manage UA’s corporate events such as seminars, tenant openings and the recent Scottish independence referendum debate and in addition to managing all the media relations, I led the successful grand opening of the Centre, which saw Scotland’s First Minister Alex Salmond conduct an official ceremony in front of a 5000-strong crowd who feasted on pork and lamb roast rolls after raising £10,000 in a charity auction of a Highland heifer.

    I’ve advised the company through a brand refresh, website revamp and an introduction to social media. UA’s Facebook page is incredibly popular with more than 3,500 likes and daily engagement, which attracts new fans each week.

    As their communications consultant, I handle all their press announcements and campaigns. I’m delighted to be treated as part of the team and even attend their epic Christmas parties.
