About

I believe business – and life – is all about relationships. People do business with people (yes it’s a cliche, but it’s also true) and all my clients have come through referrals.  I work with SMEs to grow their business. I do this by articulating their vision, telling their stories and communicating effectively with staff, stakeholders and customers.

I get to know my clients; I understand their business and how to get them in front of the people that matter. And they trust me to be proactive and spot the potential business opportunities for them.

Small is good. If you hire JKC, your business relationship is with me, Jenny, and I manage and deliver your communications on a daily basis. I also bring my extensive network of exceptionally talented experts to create a team of tailored professionals delivering the services you need.

MY GUIDING PRINCIPLES ARE TO:

    1. Be interested, inspired and straight-talking.
    2. Nurture all relationships.
    3. Communicate simply and effectively in Plain English.
    4. Look for a fresh perspective.
    5. Find the right solution.

SO I MAKE IT MY BUSINESS TO:

    • Listen to my clients and guide you through the process.
    • Find the best approach to meet the objective/s.
    • Collaborate with the right people to create the best product.
    • Advise my clients on how to best tell their stories.
    • Share exciting examples of effective communication.

  • With more than ten years’ experience in the public and private sector as a management and pr consultant (agency and in-house) under my belt, I founded JK Consultancy in 2007 and have been helping SMEs communicate more effectively ever since.

I’ve worked with chairs, chief executives and senior executive teams across agriculture, health, social housing, commercial property, IT, defence, finance, law, economic development, third sector, the arts & tourism.

In my previous roles, I gained invaluable experience working with management consultancy Liddell Thomson from 2004-2007, where I developed and implemented corporate communication strategies and facilitated workshops, with a special remit in media relations – dealing primarily with business and specialist journalists.

Prior to this, I worked at Beattie Communications where I was seconded to Scottish Enterprise, and with Rona Cameron Associates, a specialist media business.

Raised in Harrogate (the home of Yorkshire Tea), I’m a book addict, film buff, major foodie - and a language geek. That’s why I’m chuffed to be listed as an editor in several dictionaries and thesauri from a six-month graduate scheme at HarperCollins and happy to be using my English Language degree every day (from University of Glasgow).
